I took a non-objective acrylic workshop for one day and followed up with a 5 day abstracting the landscape in acrylics. Marianne provided excellent demonstrations as well as insightful and supportive one-on-one reviews. She challenged me to push the limits of my thinking about landscape, colour, form and texture.

It’s unbelievable that so much material was covered in 5 days. We did 4 big canvasses of landscapes floral impasto and abstract paintings. I did not expect the comprehensiveness of the subject options (reference photos). I think a lot more value with such a great teacher. She did so much prep to make the course interesting.

This course was so much more than I expected. The quality of teaching was truly wonderful. Lots of demos questions were encouraged and addressed. The atmosphere was really open and very friendly. Marianne said it was her job to help us love painting and she truly has! I’m hooked and will be back next year! Just because you are an artist doesn’t necessarily mean you can teach but Ms. Brome is fantastic at both! I had so much fun!

This was an intense week of learning and practice.
